Azure is nothing but cloud services set to meet the business challenges in an organization. It was introduced by Microsoft in the year 2008. It is the freedom to manage, deploy and build applications in a massive way. It provides “platform as a service”(PaaS), “software as a service”(SaaS) and “infrastructure as a service”(IaaS) and can also support many tools, programming languages, and frameworks which includes third-party software systems. Initially, it was named as “Windows Azure” and renamed as “Microsoft Azure” in the year 2014.
AWS (Amazon Web Service):
Aws is nothing but an Amazon subsidiary. It provides cloud computing platforms on-demand to the companies, governments, and individuals. These web services provide a set of abstract technical infrastructure, primitive and distributed computing. AWS introduces the cloud computing model of pay-as-you-go in order to compute the needs. Amazon Web Service can spread the data across availability zones.
Azure and AWS in cloud services:
Azure is a Public cloud platform for Microsoft whereas AWS is a cloud computing platform for Amazon. When it comes to government cloud offerings Azure is limited, but there are fewer limitations in AWS. Azure has the capability to integrate onsite servers, AWS is still strengthening hybrid clouds offerings. Difficulties occurring in standard storage that’s why Azure require platinum storage and AWS require EBS storage. In Azure, the machines are grouped into cloud service whereas in AWS can access individually.
Azure didn’t have good relationships with open source community, but AWS good relationships with them. Azure is less flexible pricing model compared to AWS. Azure building its partner ecosystem. AWS has a mature cloud environment in big data. The infrastructure services of Azure can pay by the minute and in AWS EC2(Elastic Compute Cloud) can be paid by the hour. The security systems in Azure and AWS are permissions enabled on the whole account and exceptional permission controls respectively.
The fundamental role of a computer is to compute, process and calculate. The best cloud service provider can help in thousands of processing nodes within very few minutes. For any organization, they need faster data analysis and it can be possible with two choices- Shift to the cloud or buy additional hardware. That is the goal of every public cloud service. EC2(Elastic Compute Cloud) is the primary solution for computing in AWS. Both Azure and AWS have the capability of offering flexible compute, networking, storage, and pricing. Both can share public cloud- autoscaling, pay-as-u-go pricing, self-service, compliance, security, and instant provisioning.
Managing, deploying and maintaining virtual servers can be done through virtual machine scale in Azure whereas EC2 in AWS. Docker Container Registry for Azure and AWS are Container Registry and ECR (EC2 Container Registry) respectively. Cloud Services are used for Platform-as-a-service in Azure and Elastic Beanstalk in AWS. One of the key functionalities of cloud service providers is their storage capability. The storage services of AWS are in the very long run and is very reliable. Both Azure and AWS include server side data encryption rests API access. AWS is referred to as Simple Storage Service and Azure as Blob storage. AWS cloud storage offers automation replication and high availability.
As we know cost plays an important role in the organization to move in this cloud world. There was a continuous downfall in the prices because of the competition among the providers of cloud services. Both Azure and AWS offer restricted usage limits for the free introductory tiers and also both of them can offer credits for grabbing start-up attention. For any software application to run they must require a database to save all the information. Both Azure and AWS have the capability to provide database services and this happened regardless of the NoSQL offering. Both the Relational Database Service and SQL Server database can provide automatic replication and highly available.
We tried our level best to show some differences between Azure and AWS in terms of cloud services, but there is no winner in this competition. To enable the cloud strategy both Azure and AWS have chosen the most attractive features. According to the company needs they choose different cloud services. It is a very tough job to compare Azure and AWS because both are going to launch new products, new inventions, and new pricing models.
