Latest update on Mobile Linking with Aadhaar
UIDAI has introduced Virtual ID which can be generated as many times as you want. The moment a new virtual ID is generated, the previous one automatically becomes invalid. This virtual ID can be used to update Aadhaar in services such as mobile number.
The initiative has been taken in order to provide security to the information of the people. With this facility, you can avoid sharing your 12 digit unique ID number with anyone. For mobile verification, only basic details such as name, signature and photo is required. Hence, sharing limited KYC would not affect the updating processing. The virtual ID can be generated post June 1, 2018.
Also, UIDAI has introduced face authentication facility as well which will be available from July 1, 2018. These recent changes have been done in order to protect the privacy of the people of India.
