The Camry is a mid size family sedan. These design updates help the Camry to appeal the younger audience apart from the regular family car buyers in their mid-thirties.
You are offered with two engine options with the Camry. First, you have a fuel efficient 2.5 litre inline 4 pot engine that makes 203 horses while the other engine on offer is the 3.5 litre V6 that pumps out 301 horses. Both the engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox which sends power to the front wheels only. Apart from these two engine option you also get a hybrid variant of the Camry to offer you better fuel economy.
The Camry isn’t really about 0-60 mph or quarter acceleration timings. Most of its buyers will be obsessed about fuel economy and the Camry takes care that it doesn’t disappoint its potential buyer in this case. In the city, the 2.5-litre engine variant of the Camry can go for 28 miles on a single gallon of fuel while on the highway it can go for 39 miles. The powerful V6 trim of 2018 Toyota Camry can go for 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
Now cannot simply expect the driving dynamics of the Camry to be like a sports car. After comparing all the trim levels closely we found the mid-spec SE variant to be the most sensible variant of the lot. It strikes a great balance between power, performance, fuel economy and features. The SE trim gets tuned sport suspension for a more spirited driving experience. It comes with the 2.5-litre I4 engine which offers enough power and decent fuel efficiency figures. The SE trim comes with features like a large touchscreen infotainment display, 9 speaker JBL audio system, dual zone climate control with rear vents, pedal shifters, keyless entry and ignition, auto dimming rear view mirrors along with standard features like Siri Eyes free, Google Voice, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring system. You also get features like 3 USB ports, wireless smartphone charging and a panoramic sunroof. However, Apple Carplay and Android Auto get a miss on the 2018 Camry.
The Camry can accommodate 5 people quite well. The interiors are spacious and space available on the inside is also decent. You get 6-way adjustable front seats across all variants and the rear seats do a 60/40 split fold. The fit-finish is good and quality of materials is just right for this category of cars and there’s nothing really that you can complain about. The trunk offers good cargo volume of 15.1 cubic feet so that you can cramp in all your luggage of your family when you have to take your Camry with you on a long road trip.
With all that being said, it is pretty clear that the Camry is a no-nonsense car. It just ticks all the boxes right and offers everything that you’d expect from a mid-size family sedan. A balance of power, price, comfort, practicality and fuel economy that the Camry is, it offers great value for every single penny of yours that you’ll be putting into buying it.
